Olympe de Gouges bookmark

Sale price€6,00

Dimensions 5.5 x 18 cm

Olympe de Gouges is the pseudonym of Marie Gouze (1748-1793) French writer, political activist, defender of women's rights. One of her best known texts is the "Declaration of the Rights of Women and Citizens".

The quote that appears on the bookmark is the first sentence of the Declaration of the Rights of Women and Citizens: "La femme naît libre et demeure égale à l'homme en droits." ("Woman is born free and remains equal to man in rights.")

A handmade bookmark

All the bookmarks are individually made in my workshop, each of them is the product of the stamping of a portrait stamp made by hand. This is the reason why they are unique pieces, as I do not use any mass reproduction system. In addition, they are designed to be versatile and adapt to books of various formats, from paperbacks to large works.

Bookmarks with famous quotes

In the design of my ex libris, I have not only wanted to reproduce the portrait of my favorite classic writers, but I have also wanted to add their most famous quotes, the phrases that have moved me most in my readings.
